EUGENE, Ore. – A man attacked a convenience store worker, broke into a nearby building and injured a deputy during his arrest on Friday morning, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
LCSO officials said that deputies responded to a reported menacing in the 4200 block of Franklin Boulevard on Friday a little after 11 a.m. Callers said a man entered a convenience store and assaulted an employee before leaving.
The suspect was later identified as 40-year-old Douglas Alvin Haley of Springfield. Haley continued to threaten people in the area. When deputies arrived, they found Haley had already broken into a separate location with people inside. Haley broke out a glass window, climbed inside and then blocked the door. Deputies could see Haley was visibly agitated. One deputy was injured while making entry but continued to engage Haley until he was caught…
