New container redemption options announced after Delta Park shuts its doors

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Friday is the final day that the Delta Park bottle redemption center is open, according to organizers at the Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative.

The closure date was announced in March, and OBRC said that the property owners chose not to renew the redemption center’s lease. TMT Development, which owns the shopping complex, said renewal conversations never happened.

Local businesses were happy about the closure and said it attracted drug use and shoplifting.

One of these businesses is Premier Beauty Supply, and its manager, Winnie Nguyen, said she was “happy that they’re gone so that crazy people don’t come around this area, so we can survive.”…
