No ‘murder-for-hire’ plot: Lindsay Shiver’s attorney disputes widespread media reports

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – The attorney representing a former Dothan beauty queen accused of plotting to kill her husband in the Bahamas says American media outlets have spent years misreporting the fundamental nature of the criminal charges.

Craig Shirley, a Birmingham attorney representing Lindsay Shiver, told WTVY News4 that there is no truth to widespread reports of a “murder-for-hire” plot. Shiver, a Houston Academy graduate and former Miss National Peanut Festival contestant, faces charges that she conspired with her lover and another man to kill her husband, prominent southwest Georgia businessman Robert Shiver, in the summer of 2023.

“I have never understood where that claim originated from,” Shirley said. “I want it to be abundantly clear that there is no allegation that this was a ‘murder-for-hire’ plot. Literally, the prosecutors are not even making such an allegation because there is no evidence to support it.”…
