Violent crime in Rockford rises 3 percent following months of decline

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Violent crime in Rockford rose during May and June, ending a four-month period of decline in the city. Data released this morning indicates that violent crime increased 3% last month.

While violent offenses trended upward, other categories of crime showed significant decreases compared to the previous year. Auto thefts in June fell 55% from the same period last year.
