A Thursday night in Louisville’s Beechmont neighborhood turned chaotic when a string of fires broke out along one residential alley, sending crews from four engine companies and two truck companies racing to contain the flames before they spread further.
The Louisville Fire Department says the call came in around 8 p.m. for reports of multiple fires in the alley near the 200 block of Ottawa Avenue, reported WLKY News. When firefighters arrived just minutes later, they found several detached garages already burning, along with a handful of separate trash fires scattered throughout the alley.
Thankfully, this story has a mostly good ending on the emergency response side. Crews moved quickly, splitting up to fight the fires simultaneously rather than tackling them one at a time, and had everything under control within about an hour. Neighbors also helped by pointing out smaller spot fires crews might have otherwise missed, helping stop them from spreading to nearby structures or vehicles…
