LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – For months, road work on Highway 77 near Lincoln Warhorse Casino has disrupted traffic and has resulted in three serious crashes. One of these crashes killed a 24-year-old woman.
Law enforcement has sent extra patrols to the intersection, stopping drivers who are speeding through the construction zone.
Sgt. Jeff Schneider said people driving in construction zones should focus on basic safety:
- Drivers should lower their speed.
- Drivers should put their phone down.
- Drivers should give themselves an extra five to 10 minutes to get to their final location.
