COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A new bagel shop is preparing to open in the east Columbus space that housed Block’s Bagels for decades, while preserving its predecessor’s recipes.
Anything Bagel will begin welcoming customers at 6115 McNaughten Road on Aug. 14. Block’s Bagels opened at the location in 1980 and closed in March 2025 after the death of founder Harold “Hal” Block. See NBC4’s previous coverage in the video player above.
Cincinnati-based Marx Bagels moved into the space in April 2025 but closed in June to focus on its home-market operations. Although Marx Bagels offered a different menu than Block’s Bagels, it continued using the same bagel recipes.

Now, new operator T.J. Burkheart has rebranded the shop as Anything Bagel, which will also use Block’s Bagels’ recipes. Freshly baked bagels and bagel sandwiches will be available, though the full menu has not yet been released. Anything Bagel did not respond to NBC4’s request for additional information…
