23% Increase: Homelessness rises in Downtown and across city

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority released the 2026 Point-in-Time Count data results last week, which revealed that homelessness in the City of Los Angeles rose by 3.4%, while LA County saw an increase of 1.2% from January 2025 to January 2026.

The 2026 Homeless Count was held throughout Los Angeles County from Jan. 20-22. The results show that there were 45,194 homeless individuals in the city of Los Angeles and 73,040 countywide.
