19-year-old Spring man killed in head-on crash on SH 99 in Liberty County

A 19-year-old Spring man was killed Sunday afternoon, Aug. 2, around 5:23 p.m., after the pickup truck he was driving crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another pickup towing a travel trailer on SH 99 (Grand Parkway) in Liberty County.

According to Sgt. Rob Willoughby, supervisor for the Liberty County office of the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado pickup was traveling northbound on SH 99 just north of FM 686 when, for an unknown reason, it swerved into the southbound lane and struck a 2016 Ford F-250 that was pulling a 2026 Airstream travel trailer.

The driver of the Chevrolet, the 19-year-old Spring man, died upon impact when a piece of the Airstream trailer pierced the windshield and struck the driver in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Pct. 6 Justice of the Peace Ralph Fuller, who ordered an autopsy…
