NEW YORK, New York – Edwin Raymond has been officially sworn-in as New York City’s first Haitian-American sheriff during a ceremony at Brooklyn College, where New York State Attorney General Letitia James administered the oath of office.
New York City Department of Finance (DOF) said Sheriff Raymond assumed his duties on May 29, 2026 following his appointment by Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani.
