RALEIGH, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The 2018 Farm Bill allowed hemp-derived products to be sold over the counter. This year, the industry will reach $1.8 billion in sales in the Tar Heel state, $45 million of that through hemp-derived THC-infused drinks.
“When we start telling them about hemp-derived THC and the hemp industry,” said Jack Sherrie, founder and CEO of Delta Beverages, Inc., “Most Congress members had no idea what we were talking about. They’re like, wow, I never knew this was such a big industry.”
But the conversations are taking place after federal lawmakers passed a law limiting all finished products to contain no more than 0.4 milligrams of THC. That law goes into effect November 2026.
