NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — As the countdown to the new school year begins, the North Syracuse Central School District is racing to fill the last of its open positions.
The district’s director of Human Resources, Sarah Jones, said they are finalizing their hiring process and have made some really great progress ahead of the new school year. But like many districts across the state, it continues to face a teacher shortage, leaving about a dozen positions still waiting to be filled.
“It’s a combination of both permanent teaching positions as well as some long-term sub assignments. We’re currently still looking for people who are able to teach in the areas of reading, special education, elementary education, earth science, school psychologists and a behavioral intervention specialist as well as some other positions,” said Jones…
