Brock Lesnar officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” this Tuesday. The news comes just days after his Hell in a Cell match loss to Oba Femi at SummerSlam.
Reflecting on his career, Lesnar expressed deep gratitude and emotion. “Saturday was a very emotional day for me,” he shared.
“When Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I thought I couldn’t do it again. I lost, and I felt like I was done.
But I still had some fuel in the tank. After Saturday, though, that’s it for me-in the ring and everything else.”
During the event, Lesnar acknowledged Femi as the future face of WWE, raising his hand in a poignant moment before leaving the ring with tears in his eyes. Looking back on his journey, Lesnar recalled his humble beginnings: “I was just a farm kid from South Dakota with big dreams and a big heart and a big chip on my shoulder.
I’m grateful to be 49 and to have done what I did in this lifetime. I thank God and everyone who supported me.”
Lesnar had previously hinted at retirement after his initial loss to Femi at WrestleMania 42 in April, famously leaving his boots in the ring. However, he returned weeks later to defeat Femi at Clash in Italy, extending their rivalry.
Ending his wrestling career as a 10-time WWE Champion and two-time Royal Rumble winner, Lesnar leaves a lasting legacy. Beyond his personal accolades, he played a significant role in elevating Oba Femi as one of WWE’s top emerging stars.
