Police are seeking to identify additional victims following the arrest of a suspect in the violent sexual assault of a woman walking home from a Planet Fitness gym in North Hollywood last month.
“Due to the nature of the assault, detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division believe there may be additional victims or witnesses who have not yet come forward,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement announcing the arrest of 27-year-old Rodrigo Melgar on Monday.
Melgar is suspected of attacking the victim on July 19 as she walked on the pedestrian bridge near Laurel Grove Avenue and Valleyheart Drive. Investigators allege Melgar approached the woman from behind, grabbed her by the hair, pulled her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
