CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A proposed Rhode Island Department of Transportation project that would have brought a “shared-use path” through a Cranston neighborhood has been canceled after residents voiced concerns over the plan.
Several property owners on Hoffman Avenue recently received notices from RIDOT informing them that portions of their property could be acquired through eminent domain as part of roadway improvement plans in the area.
According to letters sent to homeowners, RIDOT planned to make improvements aimed at enhancing safety and traffic flow along Meshanticut Valley Parkway and New London Avenue as part of the larger Route 37 project…
