MIDVALE, Utah (KUTV) — Residents displaced by Friday’s fire at North Union Apartments are beginning to assess what they lost, with some saying they have learned the insurance coverage recommended by the complex will not pay for their personal belongings or temporary living expenses.
Jake Meacham and his girlfriend got their first look at the damage to their fourth-floor apartment through drone video. They believe the unit is a total loss.
“All of our sentimental stuff was in there as well, like watches and certain things that we’ve bought each other, jewelry and stuff like that,” Meacham said. “But also letters we’ve wrote each other for birthdays and anniversaries in the last five years we’ve been together.”
