Stanislaus County officials are dealing with an $18 million operations deficit in the Community Services Agency, which is affecting county government and will impact social services for vulnerable residents.
To correct the problem, the county is imposing a limited hiring freeze, as well as service cuts, staff reductions and elimination of 71 vacant positions. Law enforcement positions are exempt from the hiring freeze.
