SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The weather is settling into a familiar August routine across Sarasota and Manatee counties. After a few days of more scattered rain at all hours, showers and thunderstorms are returning to their usual afternoon and evening schedule.
Today the pattern cements itself into the forecast. We begin the day with a warm and humid feel to the air with a mix of sun and clouds. Most neighborhoods should stay dry through the morning, making it the best time to get outside. By mid to late afternoon, scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop and drift toward the coast. High temperatures will reach the lower 90s before rain and clouds help cool things off. Any stronger storm could produce heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds.
Friday and the weekend look much the same. Expect hot, muggy mornings followed by building clouds and a good chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms each day. Highs will stay in the lower 90s with overnight lows in the mid-70s. Early next week, a little drier air may begin filtering into the area, which could trim rain chances slightly, but scattered afternoon storms are still expected…
