TACOMA, WA— A 66-year-old Brush Prairie man is facing federal charges after authorities say he illegally shot and killed a bald eagle earlier this year.
Federal prosecutors announced Wednesday that Benjamin G. Allen has been charged with violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and unlawfully killing a migratory bird. Allen is scheduled to make his initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Tacoma on Sept. 8.
According to court records, officers with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to a property in Brush Prairie on Feb. 5 after receiving a report of a dead bald eagle with blood around its head. A witness reported hearing a gunshot earlier that day…
