TUCSON, AZ — A Tucson fast-food restaurant confrontation ended with a 70-year-old man on the ground and three customers stepping in to stop the suspect, police said. The incident was captured on video and happened during an attempted robbery at a Carl’s Jr. on July 9.
According to Tucson police, the older man was approached by a 34-year-old suspect who followed him into the restaurant and tried to take a backpack attached to his walker. The victim was knocked down during the struggle and suffered an arm injury.
Customers intervene before suspect can escape
Police said three bystanders reacted quickly and prevented the suspect from leaving with the backpack. Their intervention helped halt the confrontation before the man could get away with the property.
Witnesses then gave officers a description of the suspect and pointed them toward the direction he had fled, helping investigators move quickly after the attack.
