LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools issued more than 30,000 referrals for cell phone violations during the last school year, the first full year under a new state law prohibiting cell phones and other devices in the classroom.
Data provided to Spectrum News through on open records request breaks down the 30,562 total referrals by school, month, gender and race. The number of violations was a 102% compared to the year prior to the ban.
