HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) – Gary Ward and his family spent years building up their business, with homes located in the adjacent properties. But he said due to confusion with the county’s planning and zoning department, the future of the ice cream shop depends on community support.
In 2024, Ward and his wife, Kari, applied for a business license for Ward’s Boat Storage, which included the ice cream shop, and have been in operation since.
But in July, an anonymous complaint was filed, stating that the Wards were storing RVs on the property and selling ice cream, which Horry County Planning and Zoning said was against zoning regulations…
