OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – Marion County commissioners are considering a proposed $13.9 million expansion that would transform Shocker Softball Park into a regional sports destination.
The proposal is based on a county-commissioned study prepared for the Ocala/Marion County Visitors and Convention Bureau. The three-phase plan would expand the complex from six to eight softball fields and add a championship field with seating for more than 500 spectators.
Additional improvements include new restrooms and concession facilities, expanded and paved parking, upgraded lighting, ADA accessibility improvements, a larger playground, livestream camera technology, and synthetic turf in the project’s final phase…
