Fort Wayne man sentenced for deadly 2017 shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A 27-year-old Fort Wayne man was sentenced Friday in a deadly 2017 shooting.

Carlos Ellis was one of two men charged last year in 36-year-old Nicholas Hennan’s death. Hennan was found dead in a car that crashed into a tree on Aug. 3, 2017.

Prosecutors dismissed charges against the other man in the case without prejudice, meaning the case could be refiled at a later date. The charges were dismissed because evidence once available to the prosecution was no longer available, according to court records, and prosecutors could no longer prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt…
