MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A man accused of shooting and killing a woman on Glen Acres Drive in Mobile has been denied bond, News 5 has learned.

Wesley Moody, 34, is accused of killing 33-year-old Kayla Stewart in front of a home on Glen Acres Drive around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5. Investigators are calling the shooting an act of domestic violence.

According to the Mobile Police Department, the department has recorded 17 criminal homicides year-to-date. Of those, five have been domestic-related. Only one of the 17 homicides involved a victim and subject did not know each other.

“When domestic violence escalates to homicide, the consequences are irreversible,” a Mobile District Attorney’s Office representative said. “We owe it to victims, their families, and our community to pursue justice with everything the law allows. That is exactly what we intend to do.”…
