Person riding scooter suffers fatal head trauma at Powell and Market in SF

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A person riding a scooter died Friday morning after suffering fatal head trauma in the area of Powell and Market streets, KRON4 has confirmed. According to the San Francisco Police Department, a call came in around 8:18 a.m. regarding a person on a scooter.

The San Francisco Fire Department said the initial call came in for a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash, and a person was found next to a scooter. First responders attempted lifesaving efforts before it was determined that the person was deceased.

Market Street is closed in both directions between 4th and 5th streets, SFPD said. SFPD, paramedics and the San Francisco Medical Examiner are all on the scene.

Video shot by KRON4 showed a white tent appearing to conceal the deceased victim.

The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management is advising people to avoid the area, expect delays and consider additional routes. San Francisco said the vehicle and driver involved in the crash were located and that the driver was cooperating with the investigation…
