Shreveport Housing Authority wins HUD grant for self-sufficiency program

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport (HACS) has been awarded a $182,374 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to fund coordinator positions for its Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program.

The FSS Program is a voluntary initiative that helps more than 100 Shreveport families build savings, increase their earnings, and work toward long-term financial independence.

“Every family that enrolls in FSS is taking a step toward a stronger financial future, and every graduate is proof that the program works,” said Bobby R. Collins, CEO of HACS. “As we grow, we want even more residents and program participants to know this opportunity exists for them.”…
