Marco Perez rehearing denied in capital murder conviction

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Alabama Court of Appeals has overruled an application for rehearing in the capital murder case of Marco Perez.

Perez was convicted in 2024 of shooting and killing Mobile Police Officer Sean Tuder in 2019. Perez was 19 at the time and was on probation, wanted for multiple car thefts and for stealing a gun — the same gun used to kill Tuder.

Tuder, a member of the Mobile Police Department’s gang unit, was attempting to arrest Perez at an apartment complex when prosecutors said Perez shot Tuder three times following a scuffle…
