Chicago – Authorities have charged a 42-year-old woman with theft after linking her to an organized retail crime operation that allegedly stole more than $100,000 in merchandise from Lululemon and other stores across northeastern Illinois. The case highlights how some crews exploit vulnerable populations to carry out large-scale thefts before converting the goods into store credit.

The Arrest at the Retailer

Investigators spotted what appeared to be a fraudulent return at the Lululemon location on North Rush Street. Loss prevention staff and Cook County Sheriff’s Police Organized Retail Crime detectives observed the transaction and determined the items had been stolen earlier.

Roise Spencer completed the return for store credit and left the store in a black Jeep. Officers stopped the vehicle near the Magnificent Mile and took her into custody on an existing warrant tied to separate drug possession and theft charges. The stop occurred on a Monday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Storage Unit Ties to Broader Crew

Further investigation revealed that Spencer rents a storage unit in the 1000 block of West 111th Street. That unit had already been flagged during earlier probes into a theft ring operating throughout the region…
