SWAT deployment and evacuations end in arrest after Burien apartment rifle threat

An hours-long standoff at a Burien apartment complex ended late Friday night after a suspect was taken into custody following a rifle threat investigation.

The incident began around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, when deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to a weapon-related threat in the 12200 block of Ambaum Blvd SW. Victims reported that a known adult male neighbor had threatened them with a rifle earlier that day.

By 8:30 p.m., deputies established probable cause to arrest the suspect. During their initial attempt to make contact, deputies believed the suspect had barricaded himself inside an apartment.
