Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced today that Peterson Jules, 40, of East Patchogue, was arrested and charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree for allegedly misrepresenting himself as an employee of the New York City Health and Hospital Special Police on four separate occasions. To avoid driving citations, the defendant allegedly presented a cellphone image of an old identification and badge.
“The allegations against this defendant represent a deliberate pattern of violating traffic laws and evading accountability through criminal impersonation of a hospital police officer,” District Attorney Tierney stated. “I want to thank the Suffolk County Police Department for conducting a thorough and professional investigation and for assisting my office in bringing this individual to justice.”
According to the accusations, Jules misrepresented himself as an active-duty law enforcement officer during four different traffic stops performed by Suffolk County Police in Patchogue and Medford between February 17 and June 4, 2026. During each stop, the defendant allegedly identified himself as “a member of service,” a phrase typically used by law enforcement officers, and showed a photograph on his cellphone of a New York City Hospital Police identification card, as well as a New York City shield and shield number…
