‘We have nothing’: East Cleveland family loses home after fire crews struggled to get water on blaze

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Fire crews responding to a house fire on Thursday in East Cleveland were unable to get adequate water pressure from nearby hydrants, according to fire radio calls and residents.

Jaclyn Daugherty and Willie Bonner, who lived in one of the homes on the 1600 block of Carlyon Road for five years, said it took approximately 30 minutes before crews were able to get water on the fire. Which the couple believes lead to the fire destroying three homes.

“It took about 30 minutes from the time we came outside until they were able to get water,” Willie Daugherty said.
