Expect Major Speed Enforcement Action By Local Police Departments, PBSO.
For anyone driving near a school, this is our yearly warning: police will aggressively be enforcing school speed zones. While speed cameras are now in place by many schools, actual human officers will be in their real police cars with real radar guns, making sure that speeders are stopped. In Florida, speeding in a school zone is a big deal. Fines in school zones are doubled from “normal” fines, and a driver can receive up to six points on their license. If you’re ticketed by a camera, the flat-rate fee is $100 with no points.
Students and teachers in public school will have their first day off on September 7th, followed by another day off on September 21st, followed by a teacher work day on October 12th.
Private schools in the area are on a more normalized schedule, with most starting school in late August…
