A popular convenience store on Highway 90 between Beaumont and Houston was destroyed by a fire that began early Saturday morning and sent flames soaring from the building.
The Devers Food Mart was deemed a “total loss” after flames engulfed the building located at 107 Highway 90 in Liberty County. First responders from Devers VFD and Liberty County arrived on the scene just after 4 a.m. Saturday and were met with large flames coming from the food mart.
Other fire departments from Jefferson, Hardin, Montgomery, Polk, Liberty and Chambers counties assisted in the response. By 2 p.m. Saturday, the fire had been controlled and nearly put out, though firefighters stayed on scene to watch for hot spots and possible rekindling…
