The Walker County Board of Commissioners has postponed a vote on the county’s proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget, removing the measure from Thursday night’s agenda and deciding to hold another work session before moving forward.
The decision came during the board’s August 6 meeting. Commissioners now have until September 30 to approve the FY2027 budget, which takes effect October 1.
The proposed budget currently has a $1.9 million gap between projected expenses and revenues, according to county officials. That represents an improvement of nearly $1 million from the $2.8 million shortfall presented in June.
Budget Shortfall Remains
