CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — With the City of Chattanooga expressing concerns about the landfills in our area potentially reaching capacity, officials say with a new recycling program nearly 98,000 pounds of food waste has been diverted from landfills.
“We have about six years left in our current sale. We are looking to increase our daily tonnage, and when that happens, that current sales time frame will go down to two years,” Solid Waste Division Director Roshonda Woods says. “However, we are looking at ways to expand our landfill.”
