PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Starting as early as Aug. 12, construction crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the on-ramp from southbound Frederick Boulevard (Route 17) to Interstate 264 (I-264) west.
A detour sign will direct motorists traveling south on Frederick Boulevard to continue to Portsmouth Boulevard and follow signs to access the I-264 west on-ramp.
This closure is temporary but is expected to remain in effect until late 2026. It will allow for the continuation of noise wall construction along the roadway on I-264 in Portsmouth.
