Rock, Reggae & Relief brought a daytime community block-party vibe to downtown Pittsburgh before the festival transformed into a full-scale nighttime concert experience.
The annual event took over Forbes Avenue and Market Square on Aug. 8, closing the area to traffic and creating what organizers call an “Urban Oasis.” During the day, the focus was on live music, dancing, food, vendors and space for people to connect in the heart of downtown. Market Square’s Chill Ville added local artists, wellness activities and more relaxed gathering areas, giving attendees a break from the main-stage energy.
The festival is built around more than entertainment. Hosted by the Piatt Family Foundation, Rock, Reggae & Relief raises money each year for a local organization. This year’s beneficiary was Café Momentum Pittsburgh, a nonprofit restaurant and culinary-training program that provides paid internships, life skills and job training for young people ages 15 to 19 who have been involved in the juvenile justice system…
