Police: Riviera Beach man held woman against her will, attacked her and choked her dog

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Riviera Beach man is accused of beating and strangling a woman, preventing her from leaving a home and threatening to kill both her and her dog during an hourslong domestic assault, according to a police probable cause affidavit.

Timothy Renardo Alvin Jr., 31, faces charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, felony battery by strangulation and animal cruelty, Riviera Beach Police Department records show. An arrest form also lists a charge of obstructing justice related to allegedly hindering communication with law enforcement.

The allegations stem from a July 28 incident at a Riviera Beach residence. An officer wrote that police were dispatched after a 911 call and found the woman with multiple visible injuries, including severe bruising and swelling to the back and right side of her head and her right ear.
