BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Birmingham residents will soon have a new opportunity to learn directly from the city’s public safety departments through a special edition of the city’s Academy of Civic Engagement.
The Mayor’s Office of Public Affairs is launching Public Safety ACE, a four-week series designed to connect residents with the departments and units responsible for protecting Birmingham. The program will include Birmingham Police, Fire & Rescue, EMS, 911/Emergency Communications, the Community Violence Intervention Team and Municipal Court.
The city’s Academy of Civic Engagement, known as ACE, launched in 2019 and has since served more than 1,400 Birmingham residents, offering a deeper understanding of how municipal government works and how residents can become more engaged in their neighborhoods.
