BOSSIER CITY, La. — Stacy Smith has spent more than four decades at Bossier High School, where she began as a student teacher and never left.
Smith started her teaching career in the 1980s after completing her student teaching at the school. She was offered a job as a substitute teacher before joining the staff full-time, teaching English.
Five years later, Smith moved into the school library, where she has worked since 1991.
Over the years, Smith has watched Bossier High School and education change significantly. When she first arrived, the school had about 1,200 students. Enrollment later dropped to around 500, leading to discussions about the school potentially closing…
