Kansas dinosaur attraction closed for six weeks to repair weather damage, vandalism

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Field Station: Dinosaurs started a six-week closure on Monday to make repairs after severe weather and vandalism battered the park.

In April, lightning struck one of the park’s main attractions: a 100-foot-long animatronic sauroposeidon. The dinosaur erupted into flames, and everything was burned away except for the metal frame.

Severe wind tore off parts of other dinosaurs, and vandals broke into the park, ripping open some of the dinos and damaging the internal wiring. Park management said it is implementing security upgrades to try to prevent this…
