RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a severe thunderstorm warning as scattered storms move across central North Carolina.
The alert was initiated at 4:59 p.m. for west central Cumberland County and northern Hoke County after radar indicated a line of severe storms that stretched from about eight miles east of Aberdeen to around eight miles west of Pope Army Airfield was moving southeast at 10 miles per hour.
Forecasters said the main hazards with this storm are 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. The severe thunderstorm warning is expected to be in place until 5:45 p.m…
