GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday to mark the grand opening of a $30 million expansion at the Covenant Living of the Great Lakes senior living community in Grand Rapids.
The faith-based, not-for-profit Covenant Living of the Great Lakes just opened a cottage neighborhood with 36 cottage homes and 18 duplex buildings.
Covenant Living President and CEO David Erickson was joined by community leaders, the development team, elected officials and residents at the Tuesday event.
“Twenty-five years after the first phase of development on this campus, it’s incredibly rewarding to see Covenant Living of the Great Lakes continue to grow and evolve,” Erickson said in a statement. “The new cottages offer the independence, comfort and convenience that today’s older adults seek, while connecting residents to a caring community and a continuum of services for the future.”

The celebration included a ribbon-cutting, tours of the neighborhood and opportunities for residents to meet their new neighbors.
All of the new cottage homes have been reserved and sold, with its first residents already having moved in earlier this spring. Inside, they can expect a two-bedroom and two-and-a-half-bath floor plan with attached two-car garages.
