Mother accused of sneaking drugs into juvenile detention center in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police have arrested a mother accused of sneaking drugs to her son at a juvenile detention center.

On Saturday, Metro Nashville Police Department officers arrived at a juvenile detention center after a visitation between Benita Fitzgerald, and her 17-year-old son.

Metro Police said officers watched surveillance video showing Fitzgerald pass a “small object” to her son. The teenager reportedly placed the item in his sock.

According to arrest documents, staff conducted a search on the teen’s left sock and found two Percocet pills and two ecstasy pills wrapped in aluminum foil.

Staff told officers that visitors are informed upon entry that bringing controlled substances into the facility is a felony offense…
