Homeless man accused in Pottstown fatal stabbing enters not guilty pleas at arraignment

NORRISTOWN — A homeless man who was living in the Pottstown area showed no emotion as he was formally arraigned in Montgomery County Court on charges he fatally stabbed another man during an argument about a phone inside a borough residence.

Ryan Scott Grace, 37, no known address, through his lawyer Thomas D. Kenny, entered not guilty pleas to charges of first- and third-degree murder and possessing an instrument of crime in connection with the alleged May 6, 2026, fatal stabbing of Shaquille Kare Nicholas, 33, at a residence in the 300 block of Walnut Street.

Nicholas’ mother, consoled in the courtroom by several relatives, wept and was overcome with emotion during the brief hearing.

It is during a formal arraignment hearing that prosecutors must inform a judge if they plan to seek the death penalty…
