New Jersey’s Bayonne Little League is on the doorstep of a berth in Williamsport for the 2026 Little League World Series, as the Garden State squad will play in the Metro Regional championship game on Friday — and one Staten Islander has been part of the magical ride.
Dex Zimmerman is a student at Police Officer Rocco Laurie Intermediate School (I.S. 72) who splits his time between Bayonne with his mother, Fabienne, and Staten Island with his father, Todd. Zimmerman has been a key member of the Bayonne Little League squad, helping the offense in a big team effort on Monday evening.
Taking on Port Washington, the New York state champions, Zimmerman recorded one of Bayonne’s 12 runs as he took home on a sacrifice fly, which helped the team earn a 12-2 win to put itself in the title game and improve to 2-0 in Regional play…
