JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Jane Granberry, crowned Miss Mississippi in June, will compete in the 99th Miss America pageant beginning Sept. 2 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Granberry previously represented Mississippi at the national level in 2019 as Miss Mississippi’s Teen.
“It definitely feels not necessarily like I’m going back to somewhere familiar, but I’m going back to a group that has loved me since I was 16, and there’s something really special and full circle about that,” Granberry said. “And something that I’m really excited about because one of the biggest things that I gained from that experience at nationals during Teen was my best friends and people that I moved across the country with and that I talk to every day.”
Philadelphia trip, D.C. stops mark lead-up to competition
Since her crowning, Granberry has spent time in Philadelphia with the 51 Miss America delegates, where the group celebrated the nation’s 250th birthday. She also made stops in Washington, D.C. and participated in the Miss America Show Me Your Shoes Parade, with her shoes celebrating the Sound of Mississippi…
