Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announces woman sentenced in fraud case

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A Johnson County woman has been sentenced to two years of probation after she pleaded guilty to insurance fraud, officials announced Tuesday morning.

The woman, identified as Jinky Alcantara, 39, pleaded guilty on May 26 in Johnson County District Court to one felony count of insurance fraud, Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt said.

Alcantara was sentenced on July 16 to 24 months of supervised probation and assessed $500 in fines, with additional court costs and fees.

Schmidt said Alcantara produced false invoices to her insurance company as part of a burglary claim with the intent to financially gain from the submission of the false writings…
