Clark County officials broke ground Tuesday morning on a long-planned expansion of the West Flamingo Senior Center, adding a new 2,438-square-foot addition to one of the busiest senior hubs in the unincorporated Spring Valley area. The 8 a.m. ceremony near Flamingo and Jones marked the start of a 150-calendar-day construction sprint that county officials say is targeted to wrap up by November.
Commission Chairman Michael Naft and Clark County Parks and Recreation hosted the groundbreaking, according to a post from Clark County Nevada. Per a Clark County press release, the project is expected to be finished in November 2026, following the 150-day timeline set at the ceremony. Naft, who was elected chairman of the Clark County Board of Commissioners by his fellow commissioners in January, represents District A — a district covering more than 338,000 residents across Spring Valley, Enterprise, and Paradise, per the county’s official biography records.
What the Expansion Actually Includes
Official bid documents reviewed by HigherGov lay out a detailed scope of work beyond just the new square footage. The project calls for modifying the existing dance studio to serve as the main entrance, installing a new HVAC rooftop unit, adding low-voltage and audio-visual systems, incorporating acoustical finishes, and replacing the existing roof drain piping.
The construction contract carries real financial weight. Bidding estimates published by Construction Projects put the project’s value between roughly $2.1 million and $2.2 million, following a formal Invitation to Bid the county issued in late 2025 with submissions closing in January. APCO Construction has since been issued active dust control operating permits for the site, according to environmental records published by Clark County, clearing the way for the earthmoving now underway.
Part of a Bigger $2.7 Million Overhaul
This groundbreaking builds on plans first unveiled nearly two years ago.
